Translation:  “I Love You, Jesus”

Location:  On the wall in the girls’ dorm at Mama Tara’s Miskito Orphanage

In around 100 days, we will close-up shop in America and the Waits’ Zoo will become a traveling roadshow.   Our tentative plan is to leave here around the beginning of August and attend language school in La Ceiba.   So….

We are talking to anyone and everyone who will listen :) .   Since our time in America is limited, we want to spend our days spreading the word about Honduras and what our family will be working on while we are there.

We are gathering prayer warriors to add to the list of those who will go before God’s throne for the people of Puerto Lempira and for our family.  We are recruiting fellow adventurers to travel to Puerto Lempira and work.  We are sharing the needs and watching how God provides.    It is a whirlwind right now.

If you are interested in hosting a small gathering for Reach Out Honduras, please contact us.   So many options are available:  a dessert night with friends, a small group meeting, Sunday School classes, youth groups, Moms meetings, and so on.    Our talk & video lasts about 30-40 minutes, but we can certainly adjust it to any audience or time-frame.    We promise that it will be heart-warming, heart-breaking and eye-opening… all at the same time.

Throughout the ages, Christian missions has been the work of many.  There are those that go, yes, and live permanently among people unlike themselves.  But, more importantly, there are those who literally lift up others from afar on the wings of prayer.

Reach Out Honduras = 1 Magnificent, Powerful and Personal God + the hands and feet of a family of 6 who deeply love Him +  hundreds of Christian friends who pray!, give! and go! to join in God’s work in Puerto Lempira, Honduras.

Reach Out Honduras Prayer Team is comprised of individuals and families who pray alongside us for the specific needs of the ministry and our family.   To receive our prayer updates and newsletters, please Contact Us and we will put you on the list. (Your e-mail will not be displayed for public viewing!) Currently, we have around 75 people on our prayer team…   We are trusting God for a Prayer Team of 100 people or more!

The Reach Out Honduras Prayer Team is a powerful group of prayer warriors.   Please allow this Prayer Team to lift you and your family up, too!  E-mail your prayer requests to Prayer Coordinator and indicate whether they can be distributed to our larger Prayer Team.

Honduras & La Moskitia

  • Please pray that international adoption in Honduras will open up once again… that corruption will be replaced by an authentic desire for the best interests of the children of Honduras
  • Visas & Paperwork – we will have to leave Honduras and renew our visas every 90 days.  This could amount to much expense and travel for us.   Please pray that we are able to secure a special permission to remain longer than 90 days.

One of our Spring Break team members, Holly, suggested this fabulous idea. Join us in prayer using these 3 common reminders… water, fruit and rubberbands. For example, when you see water, pray the information included below under water. This is a fantastic way to remember to pray for the people of Puerto Lemipra and the Spring Break 2010 team. At the very bottom is a link to where you can print out the prayer triggers to use as a bookmark in your Bible. Thank you for joining us before God’s throne!

Water

“…whoever drinks of the water I will give him shall never thirst;  but the water I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”   John 4:14

Pray :   That God will provide spiritual living water to the people of Puerto Lempira.  Also, that God would provide for the long-term physical need for clean water in the region.

Fruit

“I am the vine, you are the branches;  he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”  John 15:5

Pray: That through God’s power, we will be an example for His name through our interactions with the people of Puerto Lempira.

Flexibility

“…walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility & gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love.” Ephesians 4:1-2

Pray: That God will give us each great flexibility and patience with one another, with the children, with the Miskito people & with all aspects of preparation and travel.
